Hello, booklovers!

This summer was full of special times with our families, with our friends, and for me, with my books! Here are just a few highlights of what kept me busy this summer:

We enjoyed a picnic one warm summer day on Sauvie Island—just outside Portland, Oregon. Our son, Brian, was home for a visit—we so enjoyed our time with him.

In late June I participated in a Book Fair with other local authors here in our hometown. Thanks so much to Gallery 360 for hosting this awesome event!

In July, I attended a small writers' retreat in Damascus, Oregon. It was a blast spending time not only writing and reading but enjoying the company of my two dear writer friends—Deb & Kriston. When we weren't chatting or laughing, we were savoring our time amidst the idyllic setting of the Clyde Rice Place.

A book signing, and then the Willamette Writers Conference, kept me busy the first two weekends in August.

Thanks to Art on the Boulevard for including me in the Art in the Heart event! The Willamette Writers Conference was a blast! Enjoying the workshop of author Jared Agard.

We wrapped up our summer with a trip to New Mexico. While Michael attended a workshop for oil painters, I completed a major rewrite of my MG novel, Livvi Biddle. (Revisions & edits still needed.)

Taos Pueblo The Mabel Dodge Luhan House

We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the Taos Pueblo and meeting some of its residents. The ancient pueblo belongs to the Tiwa-speaking Native American tribe of Pueblo people, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Click here, to learn more. One afternoon, after I'd completed my writing for the day, I visited the Mabel Dodge Luhan House in the heart of Taos. The author and patron of the arts was also instrumental in forming a literary/art colony in Taos. Click here to learn more.

We concluded our trip to New Mexico with a visit to the home & studio of one of America's most beloved artists—Georgia O'Keefe. The photo below is the view from her property in the small village of Abiquiu.
