Hello Friends, Family, and Fans of Literature! The last three months have been extraordinary, and the remainder of the year should be just as amazing! Here are a few highlights since last spring — and a peek at what's coming up next along my storyteller's journey: In late June we traveled to the Columbia River Gorge to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. While there, I managed to get in a bit of writing amongst all the fun!
In early July I participated in the Art in the Heart event in Vancouver, WA, for a book signing — great fun.
Late in July I traveled to Mt. Hood in Brightwood, Oregon, with my critique partners for a writers' retreat. We had a blast! I love that location for a retreat; we took frequent breaks to enjoy the nearby river.
As summer fades to fall I have wonderful memories made in our backyard when we hosted: two family barbeques; a party for some art friends; and a "write-out" with my critique partners. What a spectacular summer! Lastly, I will be participating in two upcoming events: Next week I'll be attending the SCBWI—Oregon Retreat in Silverton, Oregon. The Oregon Garden — a botanical garden — will be a great venue for the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators! (Click on highlighted links to view their websites.)
In late October my husband and I will travel to Guatemala as part of the Art Ambassador for a Colorful World team hosted by Xela Aid. We are excited to be traveling to Central America for a trip that has a dual purpose: Helping to promote the arts (including literature) in the small village of Quetzaltenango, and also experiencing the beautiful country and its culture.
